Will Ferrell was not joking when he told Baxter that he doesn’t speak Spanish. You certainly wouldn’t think that from seeing the comedian in his latest movie, “Casa de mi Padre,” during which Ferrell’s gunslinging Mexican hero speaks exclusively in Spanish.

Ferrell admitted to MTV News that while he knows “a little bit” of Spanish, he’s far from fluent in the language, having to rely on memorizing lines phonetically. In other words, Ferrell wasn’t exactly able to improvise, and he had to work incredibly hard to get the lines just right.

“It was the most stressful time,” he said. “You’re laughing about it, you’re getting the script together, and you’re thinking it’s going to be so funny — but then you get the script translated, and there’s a real feeling of panic. ‘I’ve got to get this down. This can’t be the joke of speaking Spanish poorly.’ We’ve seen that joke before. So, yeah, it was a 23 day fever dream.”

Of course, if executed properly, you shouldn’t be able to tell that Ferrell’s grasp on the Spanish language isn’t nearly as firm as that of his onscreen counterpart, Armando Alvarez. And you certainly wouldn’t know about Ferrell’s weakness of the tongue based on his latest After Hours appearance, which you can (and must) watch in the video below.

There should be no doubts in anyone’s mind that the crazy minds behind “Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs” could come up with something equally nuts and awesome for their planned “Lego” movie. And, as we assumed, they have.

MTV News caught up with director/writers Phil Lord and Chris Miller while they were promoting their newest directorial effort “21 Jump Street” to find out if they had an update on the status of the as-yet-untitled “Lego” movie. Turns out they’re well into pre-production on the project, and will likely even start casting soon.

“We’re in the middle of heavy pre-production on the film,” Lord said. “We’re doing character design, we’re writing and boarding and coming up with animatics. There’ll be some casting stuff hopefully soon. The movie is really weird in a great way. It’s crazy.”

And just how crazy is crazy? As it turns out, it’s pretty off the wall. Lord said that some of the film will take place in a live action landscape, but the majority of the movie takes place in a “one-inch high universe” with “a cast of thousands and thousands and thousands.”

Not much is known about the plot of the “Lego” movie, so we asked Lord to elaborate a bit. Our words won’t do it justice, so we’ll let him take over from here.

“It is the story of basically a young man who doesn’t have a creative bone in his body and has to always build things from the instructions. He’s an ‘instructions worker.’ In the Lego city, they build buildings, and it turns out in this universe it’s illegal to build apart from the instructions,” Lord said. “So what he finds out is that he’s actually descendant from these like super creative Jedi-type people who are called ‘Master Builders’ and he has been charged with saving the universe from being frozen together by an evil bad guy, so over the course of the movie he has to unlearn all of that lame-o, uncreative stuff and learn how to build without all of the instructions in order to save the universe.”

Sounds like some pretty intense stuff. Miller said, “In kind of a weird way it’s the biggest action movie we’ve ever done.”

“Of all time,” Lord amended. “And the smallest action movie of all time.”

Well, this is awful. Or awesome. Depending on how you look at it. Either way, it’s pretty darn grisly.

HBO has released a brand new “Game of Thrones” poster as part of the build-up to season two, premiering on April 1. The marketing for the new season has been all about the impending War of the Five Kings, and today’s poster squares firmly on the actions of the deplorable Joffrey Baratheon… and exploits the greatest tragedy of “Game of Thrones” season one in the process.

Yeah, if you’ve seen the first season, you know what I’m talking about. See the bloody evidence for yourself beyond the break. But if you’re not caught up on “Thrones” and plan to fix that before season two, warning: HUGE SPOILER ahead. Tread lightly!

Well, poor Ned Stark was all over the original “Game of Thrones” marketing. Only makes sense for him to repeat where he can.

When it rains, it pours, I guess. After months without a peep from the world of Barnabas Collins, we now have an early review of Tim Burton‘s “Dark Shadows” and a premiere date for the trailer.

With the release of Burton’s gothic soap opera remake less than two months away, it was beginning to seem like “Dark Shadows” only existed in the form of a few promotional photos. We hadn’t seen a single piece of footage before a promotional spot for the Ellen DeGeneres Show gave us a quick look before the full trailer debuts there on Thursday (March 15).

Well, the movie is real. So real, in fact, that one reader over at AICN saw it in a test screening and sent in a short review. The user, calling himself Psyclops, places the tone of the film firmly into comedic territory, something that remained unclear until now. He describes the story as a fish-out-of-water tale with Johnny Depp‘s Barnabas Collins waking up in the 1970s, having been buried alive in the 1700s.

Summing up his recap, Psyclops liked the movie overall. “I don’t know if this version is anywhere close to what the source material was like, but I can honestly say that I really enjoyed it and that it does have some great laughs in it,” he wrote. “As long as the marketing stays true to the comedic nature of the movie and doesn’t try to sell it as purely a horror film, I can’t see this failing to be a hit.”

The reviewer did mention, however, that the romantic subplot between Barnabas and Bella Heathcoate’s character falls disappointingly flat.

Most importantly, it sounds like “Dark Shadows” could make it’s frighteningly soon May 11 release date. That it might actually be pretty good is an added bonus at this point.
